GeForce RTX 4090 Graphics Card Without Power Cable

Asus has again introduced a graphics card product that is powerful but doesn't require a power cable, this time in the form of the GeForce RTX 4090. Usually graphics cards with top GPUs from Nvidia need to be fitted with a 12VHPWR cable which is not only inconvenient and obstructs the view, but also risks melting.

Instead of cables, the graphics card called ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 BTF Edition from Asus takes power from a special connector placed parallel to the PCIe x16 slot.

Asus claims this connector can supply up to 600 watts of power to the graphics card. Of course, the graphics card must be installed on the motherboard with the relevant connector. This Taiwanese manufacturer does have a "Back to the Future" concept, aka BTF, which allows the installation of a graphics card without cables, provided that a graphics card and motherboard are compatible with each other.

The motherboard uses a series of power connectors placed at the back. Therefore, a compatible casing is also required. Asus collaborates with manufacturers such as Aerocool, Corsair, Inwin, and Lian Li to produce BTF casings. Unfortunately, so far there is no price or availability information regarding the Asus BTF graphics card and motherboard products above.
