Intel CFO Statement, Windows 12 will be released in 2024 — and my prediction from previous Windows release cycles is that it will probably be released in October 2024
The minimum specifications to be able to run Windows 12 have not yet officially appeared, but of course they will remain similar to the minimum specifications for Windows 11. It's just that from several Deskmodder leaks, the minimum RAM to be able to run Windows 12 has increased to 8GB RAM. Apart from that, there are also rumors that Windows 12 requires the use of an SSD to boot the system — although this has not been confirmed. But at least from all the leaks that have emerged, this is roughly what the minimum specifications for Windows 12 are:
Processor: 1 GHz or faster
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 64GB or more (SSD)
TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0
System firmware: UEFI with Secure Boot
GPU: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
Screen: HD resolution (720p) larger than 9” diagonally
Internet connection for setup
For the price of Windows 12 when it is released, it will likely follow the upgrade system like Windows 10 or Windows 11. So for current Windows 10 or Windows 11 users, they will be able to upgrade to Windows 12 for free.
Windows 12 will also be the built-in OS on many new laptops or PCs in the future.
It's just that for friends who don't have a Windows license at all, and want to install Windows 12 on a PC that doesn't have a built-in OS, Microsoft will still sell Windows 12 — just like they do with Windows 11 currently. For information, the price of a Windows 11 license officially sold on Microsoft.com is currently 3 million - which will likely be the same as the price of a Windows 12 license in the future.
