Valve has officially withdrawn Steam support for older Windows, namely Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. This statement was conveyed through an official post on their website.
Previously, many gamers already knew that Steam support for the old Windows OS would indeed be removed. However, Valve only officially stated that it would stop supporting Steam on the old Windows OS on January 1, 2024.
This policy was carried out based on the results of a survey where the number of Steam users on older Windows was very minimal, namely only around 1%. Compared to Windows 10 which reached around 53.53%, and Windows 11 which reached 42.04%
